Whoop! Records was established in 1994 by DJ's Joel Xavier & Andy Lekker, releasing some of the biggest and best trance and progressive house (the original progressive house that is!) tracks around. With artists that included Nick Muir who is best known now for his collaboration with John Digweed and Bedrock and Nigel Dawson (who produced under the moniker Dominion) who at the time was resident for Renaissance during the days when Renaissance was the biggest and arguably the best brand in clubland. Whoop! during the 90's ran one of the best progressive house nights at the Gardening Club in Covent Garden with a host of top DJs including Sacha gracing the decks (yes turntables!) every Friday night and were huge nights.
Other notable producers included the prolific Tarantella, Redanka, Guy Gerber, D Ramirez, Trent Cantrelle.... but with over 100 releases in the catalogue there are too many to name here. This is certainly a label that made - and left - its mark on the dance music seen for the best part of 15 years, having been during the 90's and early 00's, a hugely influential label with a plethora of genre defining releases under its belt.
